Additional Information
The following information details our primary specialist areas of contemporary design and restoration/conservation. For full details of all Lightworks services, please call us personally or visit our website.
Contemporary design
Although the process of making stained glass has
remained virtually unchanged for hundeds of years,
the possibilities for its appearance and application
are constantly evolving. Through experimentation with these possibilities and our unique approach to its
design, Lightworks is creating exciting, vibrant and
inspirational stained glass which, either installed in a
traditional architectural setting or mounted in our
bespoke back-lit aluminium frames, can be used to
create a stunning focal point for any environment.
At Lightworks we firmly believe that the key to good
design comes from good communication with the
client and we will actively encourage and
continuously seek this communication throughout
the process of designing your stained glass
commission. Whatever subject matter or style you
may be considering Lightworks takes great pride in
being able to design truly one-off bespoke artworks
specifically to your requirements. The only limitation is the imagination!
Restoration & conservation
Restoration and conservation of stained and leaded
glass forms a large part of the work carried out by
Lightworks. The utmost care and craftsmanship is
applied to each and every project we undertake
whatever the age and whoever the original maker.
Some of our more notable works in this field include
the restoration of stained glass by a number of the
Masters including Pugin, Morris and Hardman.
Lightworks was also responsible for the conservation
of a set of windows containing \forest glass\" at
Whalley Abbey, dating from the mid 16th Century
and among the oldest remaining glass of its type
in the country.
As a small but highly efficient team, Lightworks
directors and staff are passionate, conscientious and
dedicated to the work they carry out and assure
each and every one of their clients that this care and
consideration for the craft is evident in every piece of
work that leaves the studio.
